Christmas Ceramics Post WWII, the US again began to import Christmas decorations from Germany and Japan. Japan in particular, began to export small hand painted ceramic figurines in considerable quantity. Families used them in putz scenes, to decorate tables or to create tableaus elsewhere in the home. Santas, snowmen and angels are particularly popular, but there were also many figurines of choirboys and girls, ladies in vintage dress and other figurines dressed in Christmas finery.
